Reward-based dog training

Also called positive reinforcement dog training (R+). Reward-based training is the use of motivational, force-free techniques to change or modify dog behavior.

Rooted in canine behavioral science, these humane training methods get you the polite behaviors you want while preserving trust between you and your dog.

  • Reward-based training:
  • Makes use of the way dogs learn
  • Is safe, effective, and fast
  • Means everyone wins

K9U uses only reward-based methods.

AVSAB recommends R+
The American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior (AVSAB) discourages veterinarians from referring clients to trainers who subscribe to dominance theories and confrontational training.

AVSAB recommends referring only to trainers who follow the scientific guidelines of positive reinforcement, classical and operant conditioning, desensitization, and counterconditioning.
